Lake Kournas, is located 50 km east of Chania, and is about 4 km from the resort of Georgioupolis.
There is a great contrast between the lake and the village Kournas. The lake and surrounding area have been developed to serve the large number of visitors to the lake. The village has largely retained its traditional character. In the village you will find excellent taverns.
Between the village and Lake Kournas is the picturesque Kournas Cave, which offers magnificent views of the lake. The cave has a depth of about 35 meters, and has impressive stalactites and stalagmites.
